Tips and tricks playing PA

  1. Flying your same ETA attack fleets in echelon (i.e.: 1 tick difference) can be a lifesaver. If your fleets land and return at the same time, they could still be vulnerable to a fleet catch. (FC)
  2. The exclamation mark behind a coord on the ally def page means it’s not found in the bcalc. (Ships could still be in the calc, but not the coords.)
  3. DC #1: If you’ve set notifications in game preferences > notifications (only on a paid account), the bot will automatically ask the scanners for a U/A scan when you have incoming. Please tag ship types and setup a calc consisting of your base fleet + incoming hostiles after they’ve come in. Not doing so waste the scan efforts!
  4. Tagging ship types after U/A/I scans is vital; Everyone can click on the resulting link to see what anti-ships are available at that ETA.
  5. If you mark the status from New to In Progress it will help others realize someone is looking at the situation. Use notes to clarify. I.e.: 15k spids + 1 bs pod = fake my Bs fleet. Marking No Pods, Gal-covered or Ally-Covered is helping others. Marking Uncovered at ETA 4 and below is a cleanup action: If you mark all incomings other than new, the notification of ‘new’ alliance incomings disappears.
  6. If you need advice on att/def at whatever ETA, show the calc you’ve made. calcs are the currencies of the game. It also means you’re helping the person you’re asking advice from.
  7. If you’re manually inserting numbers on a calc you’re doing it wrong. One faster way is clicking the bcalc links and adding them to the overall calc. The fastest way is a userscript that will do this for you with the click of a button on the ally def page and just reads the home base, grey recalls, green friendlies and A/I scan hostile fleets. You can also use the !calc <x:y:z> <ETA> command in telegram, but you need to trim fleets / adjust numbers.
  8. The game is a shuffling of fleet slots. We have four of which three can be used abroad. News scans might be able to tell you what fleet type is in fleet Alpha/Beta/Gamma if you can see how it’s been used before. Names can be changed and this can also be used against you to trick you. (Pan is good at that.) Idle fleet slots are no good. You score XP per tick for flying defense in-gal and ex-gal at different rates. A perfect game is where fleets are always moving!
  9. ETA 7 hostile is always base 12 + TT4. ETA 13 is always base 14 + TT0.
  10. If you can help it, don’t mix fake and real def. Either all def is fake or all def is real. fake EMP will need fake kill/steal as people will always land on EMP.
  11. There are ways to deduce government type. TER TOT most likely has Cons pop bonus on 35% to get 200CU/tick. That means every 4 ticks an amp is constructed. (800CU). You can look up 4 tick difference between 2 amps constructed in the news scan.
  12. News scan: Launch tick 500 and arrival tick 507 in the news scan: 8 ticks. (500,501,502,503,504,505,506,507). So base 13 + TT4 if it concerns ex-gal def.
